Relationships with my clients and their families are one of the most important aspects of my therapy. We do hard things in therapy; I can’t ask a child to try something new and challenging if we don’t have a strong, trusting relationship. I work to address therapeutic goals by incorporating a child’s interests (i.e. favorite toys, games, characters) into our sessions. Parent education and collaboration is also a central part of the therapeutic process. I want families to understand their child’s speech-language difficulties, which is why parents are always welcome to participate in sessions and ask questions. I will also provide strategies for carryover, so the child can become a successful and confident communicator across environments.
