Welcome!

I’m Kenzie, NYS licensed speech-language pathologist with over 20-years of experience working with children ranging from toddlerhood to early adolescence. Below you’ll find answers to some of the questions you may have about me and my practice. If you’d like more information, please reach out by phone, email or through the form on the contact page.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I evaluate and treat:

    • Speech sound disorders (articulation, apraxia, phonological disorders.)

    • Language (receptive, expressive and pragmatic.)

    • Stuttering

    • Early literacy (phonics instruction.)

  • Relationships with my clients and their families are one of the most important aspects of my therapy.  We do hard things in therapy; I can’t ask a child to try something new and challenging if we don’t have a strong, trusting relationship. I work to address therapeutic goals by incorporating a child’s interests (i.e. favorite toys, games, characters) into our sessions.  Parent education and collaboration is also a central part of the therapeutic process.  I want families to understand their child’s speech-language difficulties, which is why parents are always welcome to participate in sessions and ask questions.  I will also provide strategies for carryover, so the child can become a successful and confident communicator across environments.

  • In addition to my current private practice, I've worked in numerous settings:

    • As a staff therapist in several schools/center-based programs (The Shield Institute, ICLC and The Dillon Child Study Center.)

    • As a home and community based Early Intervention and CPSE provider.

    • In an office/gym with occupational and physical therapists.

    • As a CPSE evaluator for Rivendell.

  • I have training in:

    • Advanced training in DTTC (an evidenced based treatment for childhood apraxia of speech.)

    • PROMPT Level 1

    • Orton Gillingham

    • Reflective practice and supervision

I also provide trainings to preschool teachers on early childhood speech-language development.

    • I don't accept insurance, but upon payment of your invoice, I will provide a superbill that you can submit to your carrier for reimbursement.

    • I do not participate in Early Intervention.

    • I do not accept any CPSE or CSE RSAs at this time.

  • My office is at 26 Court Street in Brooklyn Heights. I also offer teletherapy.
